Books, Tea, Healthy Me BINGO: January 2022

Happy New Year! And welcome to a new feature on Books, Tea, Healthy Me: BINGO! I’ve seen a lot of bingo boards out there, but this is the first that reflects the values of this blog. For this first board, I am keeping things really simple. No hard prompts that are going to make you hunt anything down or feel too difficult to accomplish. In fact, I really hope that you look at this board and are able to meet each and every one.

Here’s a closer look at what’s on this month’s board.

Book Prompts

Recommend a Book to a Friend – Tell someone about a book you read and really enjoyed. It doesn’t really have to be a friend. I tend to be that stranger at the library or bookstore who sees someone contemplating a book that I’ve read and going over to tell them all about it. This month, try talking about a book and see what happens!

Go to the Library – The library is one of my favorite places. A big building filled with books that I can take home to read for free! What could be better? And during the winter when we are stuck inside, why not be stuck inside with lots of books? So this month, I challenge you to take a walk through your local library. Maybe you will find your next favorite read!

Read a Book – No restrictions on this one. Just read a book. Any book. Need some suggestions? Subscribe to this blog for TONS of recommendations.

Listen to an Audiobook – No restrictions on this one either. Just find a book and start listening! I love to listen in the car during a long drive or when I am out for a walk. It also works at home when working around the house instead of having the TV on. Give it a try. You might just like it.

Post a Book Review – Once you read a book, you can show gratitude to the author by posting a review of the book on Amazon, Goodreads or an online book retailer. It’s not hard and only takes a minute or two. It may seem overwhelming, but it’s really easy. Just decide how many stars you give the book (one star means it wasn’t great, five stars means everyone needs to read this), and write one sentence. That’s all it takes to show a book and the author a little love! And it works for audiobooks too. Bonus, you get to thank the narrator as well.

Tea Prompt

Drink a Cup of Tea – Once again, no restrictions. Iced or hot, loose leaf or bags, it doesn’t matter. Just make yourself a cup and sit back and enjoy!

Healthy Me Prompts

Try a New Recipe – I love to cook but trying new recipes is always an issue for me. I get really nervous and overthink it and worry about what will I do with the leftovers if no one likes it because I hate to waste food. This month, I am going to be better about getting over my issues and trying new recipes to help my family expand their palette and be healthy. Maybe you want to try something new too?? I am going to be adding more recipes to Books, Tea, Healthy Me in 2022 (it’s one of my resolutions) so stay tuned for some recipe ideas.

Have a Glass of Water – Water is SO good for you. Drinking just one extra glass of water a day is fantastic for your body. Head over to the sink. Fill up a glass and drink it down. Then try it again and again. You will be glad that you did!

Do One Thing You Have Been Putting Off – This is the one prompt that isn’t fun but it needs to be done. Do you have a list of things that you have been putting off? Things that aren’t easy but might take a weight off your shoulders if you do them. Try getting just one of those things done this month. I bet you will feel better in the end, and it might make checking some more things off your list easier.

Go for a Walk – Put on some shoes and get outside and go for a walk. You don’t have to go far. Just around the block will do. But a few deep breaths of fresh air combined with stretching your legs can be the start of another great habit.

Take a Hot Bath or Shower – You are probably saying, “I do this all the time, why is this on the list?” Well, I urge you to take a bath or shower not because you are dirty and because you feel you need to, but just to take some time for yourself. Enjoy that hot water. Maybe use a fancy soap or shower gel. Just enjoy it!

Keep a New Year Resolution – Making resolutions is easy. Keeping them is really hard. If you could keep just one of your resolutions, how would your life be better? Pick one and stick with it. It doesn’t have to be a big one. Start small and see what happens.

Skip a Straw – Plastic straws are bad for the environment. Like really bad. This month, try skipping using a straw all together OR try using a reusable straw instead. They are easy to carry with you and easy to keep clean. The sea turtles with thank you!

Spend 5 Minutes Stretching – Five minutes of stretching can make your day. Give it a try. Your muscles with thank you. This doesn’t have to be complicated. Try touching your toes or reaching for the ceiling. Simple stretches can make a big difference.

Meatless Monday – One day a week without meat. It is easier than you think. There are a TON of fun vegetarian and vegan recipes out there. Combine this prompt with the “Try a New Recipe” one and it’s a 2-for-1! Look for lots of recipes coming to BTHM in 2022!!
