Myridians are coming, each wielding one of Six Cataclysmic Powers that will lay waste to the world and wake the God of Neutrality. What happens when one refuses to succumb to her myridian nature and sets out to save the world instead?
***
SIDRA ANATOLA will soon die a human death and be reborn as one of the myridian, beings destined to destroy the World of Aetheria. In a desperate attempt to change her dark fate, she flees home and the young man she loves to seek help from a powerful entity who has lived through all the ages. But she may not make it in time before she is killed by hunters—or by the love of her life, also a myridian, who fights every day to hold onto the emotions that made him human.
BRESEIS ERISWEN was expelled from the academy and failed her father who expected her to carry on her late mother’s profession as a myridian hunter. But Breseis never wanted to be a hunter—she refused to kill, and she never believed in myridians, to begin with. She leaves home with big dreams, lacking experience, and a broken heart, to prove that she is more than a failed hunter.
Two contrasting paths converge to become a turbulent one. A mouthy intellect with a colorful personality, and a skilled warrior with a frosty attitude, put their differences aside and travel the rest of the way together, robbing temples, angering false gods, and escaping numerous predicaments with their lives. Amid the chaos, they form a friendship despite a gut feeling that both hide dangerous secrets that can save or destroy the world and each other.

Sonja J. Breckon is a builder of fantasy worlds and not ashamed to admit she lives in them more than in the real world. Besides writing books, she works with various programs to create her own cover art, interior art, design, formatting, and fantasy maps. She loves nature, the universe, coffee, and bookstores. Oh, and chicken potato enchiladas.

And now, an exclusive interview with Sonja J. Breckon
Is there something special about the book you are currently promoting that you want everyone to know? Your inspiration maybe? A fun hidden fact?
A fun fact about what inspired me to write SILVER DAWN AFIRE was that it was inspired by the characters and relationship between Xena and Gabrielle from the popular 90s television show Xena Warrior Princess.
Where do you begin when you develop new characters? Physical characteristics, personality, plot? What comes first and how do you go from there?
Character personalities more often feed my inspiration, but world-building is just as much a part of my process as the characters are. I’ve been creating my own worlds, languages, and magic systems for more than twenty years.
Does writing exhaust or energize you? Why?
It does both! When an idea pops into my head, I feel like I can get the words onto the screen fast enough, and by the time I complete a novel, I’m exhausted!
What is your writing kryptonite? And what is the cure?
Depression is my writing kryptonite. And, oddly enough, writing is the cure. Sometimes it’s hard to write, but I know if I don’t do it, that it’ll only make the depression worse. Also, oddly enough, there are times I feel like without depression, that I’ve suffered with most of my life, I wouldn’t be able to write. It is as much a part of me as the writing has always been.
What book are you reading right now?
The Nightingale by Kristin Hannah
What do you do to keep yourself healthy? What is your #1 healthy lifestyle tip?
I rarely ever eat “junk”. I’m very involved in choosing what I put into (and even on) my body. I also walk 40 minutes a day, six days a week, and I hardly ever drink anything but water. My one weakness is cold brew coffee.
Fun Facts
- Favorite snack to eat while you are writing – Cold brew coffee
- If you were a WWE Superstar, what would your entrance music be? Something from the TV series “Vikings” soundtrack
- What would you choose as your mascot/avatar/spirit animal? A raven
- If you didn’t write, what would your occupation be? Graphic designer or hotel owner
- What do you enjoying doing when you aren’t writing or reading? I love being in nature: hiking, walking, swimming, and nature photography
