Eyal Danon, Author of THE GOLDEN KEY OF GANGOTRI on Writing a Gripping Adventure Novel and How Readers Can Mirror Their Own Self-Discovery Journey

Question: What inspired you to write The Golden Key of Gangotri?

EYAL DANON: I have walked the pilgrimage path to the Gangotri glacier in India, getting to the source of the Ganges River. It was a transformational experience for me, one that compelled me to write this book.

Q: What was the biggest challenge you faced while writing The Golden Key of Gangotri?

ED: Making sure that the adventure/mystery parts of the novel work well with the life-guidance insights and reflections.

Q: Why is the setting of the novel so important?

ED: The novel is set in Manhattan and Gangotri, high in the Himalayas of Northern India, where an ancient pilgrimage route leads adventurers to a glacier that is the source of the holy Ganges river, the most sacred river in the world.  This “journey to the source” is also the self-discovery journey of Harley to find out the truth about her father’s mysterious disappearance. This setting is important since Gangotri is an awe-inspiring location with deep cultural significance.

Q: What can readers takeaway after reading the novel?

There are several things…hopefully readers will consider travelling to Northern India and follow this powerful pilgrimage route…learn how to “jump into the abyss”, meaning taking risks that can yield transformational growth…How to fight negative emotions, what is the real meaning of life, how to become an authentic person.

Q: You begin to introduce us to the “Principle of 18,” an original and unconventional life stages model crafted by you, tell us more about this and what we can expect next.

ED: The “Principle of 18” is an original life-stages model that I have developed after coaching hundreds of clients.  There are five life chapters, each one lasting 18 years, and all life-stages are connected in one holistic model. By following the Principle of 18, you’ll discover:

  • How to create compelling dreams for your future and fully explore your options
  • How to leverage your unique talents to build your own empire
  • Ways to pay it forward and find grace through guidance and giving
  • The cross-cultural mystical significance of the number eighteen
